Capturing Teacher Knolwedge In Mathematics |

Mathematics teachers teaching grades 5 through 7 are being invited by the LessonLab Research Institute in Santa Monica to participate in a research study. The goal of the study is to capture teacher knowledge of teaching mathematics. You are under no obligation to participate. IF I CHOOSE TO PARTICIPATE, WHAT WILL I BE ASKED TO DO? 1. Complete two online surveys, which together will take approx. 1 hour. 2. Watch and comment on video clips of teaching fractions, available online. This will take approximately 1˝ hours. 3. Administer a short pre- and post-test on fractions to your students. 4. Allow us to videotape 1 fractions lessons during the 2008-2009 school year. You needn’t change your practice in any way. In fact, what we most desire is the opportunity to see your everyday teaching. 5. Provide the research team with a copy of your lesson plan (or planning notes) from the videotaped lesson. This study has been approved by LAUSD. |
