KAREN GIVVIN, Ph.D.

Research Scientist, received her doctorate from the School of Education at UCLA in 1997.  While there she studied child development and motivation across education and sport domains.  From 1992-1995 she worked on a study that investigated the effects of innovative mathematics curricula on teachers’ beliefs and classroom behavior.  She joined LessonLab in 1998 to work on the mathematics portion of the TIMSS 1999 Video Study, serving as the country associate for the Netherlands.  Karen is interested in research, professional development, and teacher training in mathematics and science and the use of video in support of those activities.
