BELINDA
THOMPSON,
M.A.
Research Associate, is a National Board
Certified
Teacher in the area of Early Adolescence Mathematics. She
received a BS in Special Education and Middle Grades Mathematics
Education from Eastern Kentucky University, and an MA with high
distinction in Secondary Mathematics Education from California State
University at Northridge. She has taught Middle Grades
Mathematics in public and independent schools in rural and suburban
areas of Kentucky, California, and North Carolina, and recently served
as a New Teacher Coach for secondary mathematics teachers in the School
District of Philadelphia. Belinda currently works as is a
Professional Development Facilitator for the ALFA (Algebra Learning for
All) project. Her research interests include mathematics
content
knowledge of teachers, how teachers develop pedagogical content
knowledge, and how assessment of student work informs instruction.
